On Easter morning, April 16, 2017, our Lord in his infinite wisdom called home his suffering child our loving husband, father, grandfather and opa, great grandfather and great opa Roelof Buitenhuis at the age of 87. He was a child of God.

 Born August 31, 1929 he grew up in the Netherlands. On March 21, 1951 he married his loving wife Meta and soon thereafter they immigrated to Canada arriving in April of that year.

 Roelof is survived by Meta as well as his loving family; children: son, Rudy and Aria; their family Alex, Micheal, Timothy, Neil and Dianne, great grand children Maria, Emily, Ronan and Julia. Son, Rick and Pam; their family Jason, Wendi and James, great-grandchildren Caitlin, Jamie, Nathan, Hannah, and …, Jocelyn and Jesse; great-grandson Rydyr. Ashley and (Clinton (deceased)), great-grandsons Jacob and Messiah. Son, Fred.

 Roelof is also survived by 2 sisters: Jennie Brink and Gé (George) Meyerink as well as sister-in-law Henny Buitenhuis, brother-in-law Bé Vos, brother-in-law Frank Roffel (Mary Ellen) and sister-in-law Margaret (Rien) Grootenboer. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters

 Visitation: Sunday evening April 23 at Blake Funeral Chapel 7 – 9 p.m.

 Funeral services for the late Roelof Buitenhuis will be held April 24, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at First Christian Reformed Church Cooper Road Rosslyn with interment prior to the service in Riverside Cemetery Hymers.

 In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

 The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the Gillies Emergency Response Team and the doctors and nurses at the regional hospital who provided care for Roelof. A special thank you to Dr. Miller and the Community Care Access Centre who made the necessary arrangements to fulfill Roelof’s wish to spend his last days at home and to Eric and Kathleen who diligently provided home care over the  last few years.
