Ron Richards

Ron Richards, age 84 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with his family at his side.

Ron was born on August 14, 1932 in Great Village, Nova Scotia.  He left Nova Scotia at a young age to find work as a mechanic in Toronto.  Twenty-two years and six children later, the Richards family made the x-country trip, via school bus, to Thunder Bay.  Ron and his brother Tom owned and operated Bay Taxi for several years.  Ron ended his working career at Bombardier.

Ron will be sadly missed by his family:  daughter Joan (Bruce); son Jimmy (Patti); son Peter (Ann); daughter Sherron (Jim); daughter Lynda (Mike);  brothers Tom (Julie) and Keith (Brenda);  sisters Bert, Dorothy and Elise; grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews will miss their Grampie and Uncle Ronnie.

He was predeceased by his wife Gwen and his daughter Darlene Creighton, as well as his mother Laura, father George and brother Raymond.

A special thank you to the nurses and doctors on 2B and ICU for their compassion and excellent care.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street.  Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron's memory to The Thunder Bay and District Humane Society.
