It is with very deep sorrow that the family of Ronald Davidson, age 90 years, announce his sudden passing on Thursday, March 11, 2021.

Ronald was born in London, England on October 22, 1930. As a child during WWII, he was evacuated to the English countryside, where he learned many aspects of farming. At 16, Ron joined the Merchant Navy and at 18, he joined the Middlesex Paratroop Regiment where he was deployed to Malaysia. After returning to civilian life, he drove truck until he immigrated to Canada in 1958. Here, Ron also drove truck, worked in several paper mills and then joined Thunder Bay Transit until he retired in 1993.

“Harley” as he was known by many, was a member of the Army and Navy Club, Elks Club and Branch 6 Legion for many years. He loved to travel and saw much of the world. Ronald enjoyed gardening and the great outdoors. He often went camping, fishing and ski-dooing with his friends and “adopted” son Jim Wheatley. Ron also spent countless hours with Vanessa at the barn, taking pleasure in the horses.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 50 years, Muriel; daughters Judy (Ralph) and Vanessa (Chris); cherished granddaughter Cassandra, along with 4 other grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives in England and USA.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister and brothers; his first wife and his daughter Virginia.

We will miss Ron's generosity, kindness, cheery smile, cheeky jokes and even his sometimes desperation in his silent world of deafness.

In keeping with Ron's wishes, a private family service was held and cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and interment will follow at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
