Mr. Ronald James Edwards, age 98, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Thursday, March 23, 2023.
Born on May 17, 1924 in Yorkshire Township to Ivy and Walter Edwards. He was raised and educated in Fort William and attended local schools. At 25 years of age, while working at a variety of jobs, he began trimming by the hour for the Thunder Bay Grain Trimmers. Ten years later he became a partner and proceeded to work for 34 more years, before choosing to retire.
Ron was also an honorary Elk’s # 82 member.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Cecile (Hudec) Edwards, and daughter Carol Ann Edwards. Other surviving members are sister Dorothy Mulawyshyn, brothers Gerald Edwards, and Len Edwards.
Predeceased by both parents, brothers and sisters: Robert Edwards, Muriel Smith, Irene Tindale, Ruth Frost, Barbara Osborne, James Edwards, and step-daughter Deborah Brown.
As Ron wished, no services will be held. Upon cremation interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Elk’s Sick Children’s Fund would be appreciated.
