Mr. Ronald Regent Marin, age 82 years of Taylor Drive, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, October 3, 2021 after a long fought illness.

Ron was born in Hearst, Ontario on January 20, 1939 and was raised in Kapuskasing. He married Rosiane Gélineau on May 25, 1963, starting their life in Timmins and Sudbury before moving to Thunder Bay 46 years ago and raising their three children. Ron's greatest passion was his family and spending time with all of them was his biggest joy. He was deeply proud of his wife, children and grandchildren. Ron worked for many years in the road and bridge construction field for various contractors. He was passionate about his career and made many lifelong friends along the way.

Ron loved many things in life including ice fishing at Lac des Mille Lacs, where he was an original founder, wood working, and spending time in his beautiful gardens. He was someone who lived life to the fullest, worked hard and played harder. Ron was a truly generous and kind man. He was a fighter to the end and never gave up. He will be loved forever and deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

Ron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosiane; children Francine Marin (Dwayne Tataryn), Robert (Lynn) Marin and Nathalie (Mark) Sitar; grandchildren Justin (Hayley), Brendon (Maliya), Tanner, Kyle, Carolyn (Ryan Trochimchuk), Rebecca (Matt Nutley) and Cassandra as well as his special great-grandson Hunter. He is also survived by his siblings Claudette (Cliff) Tait and Andre (Heather) Marin; brother-in-law Lorne Cadeau and sister-in-law Lise Marin as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents Alphonse and Georgiana Marin and several siblings.

A special thank you to Dr. Toppin, Dr. Nigro and Dr. Mapeso for their care over the years as well as to Dr. Kisselgoff and the many nurses and staff of St. Joseph's Hospital and 3B at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for the comfort and compassion provided to Ron and our entire family.

A Celebration of Ron's life for close friends and family will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at Ron and Rosiane's home, 27 Taylor Drive, Thunder Bay. We will be hosting friends outside under a tent (rain or shine).

As directed by the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, COVID protocols are still being applied in group settings. A record of attendance must be maintained, wearing of masks or face coverings by everyone and social distancing of 6 feet is mandatory for those attending.

Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Ron to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.

We will forever cherish the memories, stories and laughter shared with our husband, father and grandfather. He will remain close in our hearts.
