Rosina Mihaljevic
We are all saddened by the sudden loss of Rosa Martire Mihaljevic, on July 26, 2021, at the age of 83. Hailing from Pedace, Italy, Rosa began her journey to Canada at the tender age of 20 years old, arriving in Port Arthur in 1959.

Rosa was hardworking and committed to her many endeavours. Most notably, she is remembered for her contributions to the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, where she touched the lives of many individuals providing meals and supervision to young children. It was her compassionate charisma and loving work ethic that made the staff and students feel as though they were her own. In honour of Rosa’s time working for the breakfast program at St. Pius X school, the kitchenette is left in loving memory in her name (Nonna Rosa).

Rosa’s main focus was providing for her family. Left to mourn her loss are her children Branko (Anna), Marino (Susan), Maria Allan (Andrew), and Tom (Ivana). She had six grandchildren who she burst with pride over: Roseanna(Justin), Raffale, Makayla, Vanessa, Thomas, and Evan, as well as great-grandchildren James, Avery, Cruz, and Remy. She is survived by her brother, Ernesto Martire, sister-in-law Rita Martire, and numerous nieces and nephews in Thunder Bay and Italy. She was predeceased by her husband, Mirko, newborn daughter Manda, her parents, Carmela and Marino Martire, sisters Elvira Iazzolino (Timoteo), Maria Salatino (Giacomo), Doreen and Francesco Martire.

Rosa was a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s parish and CWL, and the Italian Society of Port Arthur Ladies Auxiliary, where she became acquainted with lifelong friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 in the chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home from 5-7pm with vigil prayers beginning at 7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church on Thursday July 29, at 10:30am with interment to follow at St. Andrew’s cemetery. Those wishing to attend the funeral mass are asked to register on Rosa's page or call the funeral home. Those wishing to attend the service virtually may do so by going to Sargent and Son's Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Boys and Girls Club of Thunder Bay, St. Anthony’s Parish, or the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.

Rest in peace, Mom!
