Mrs. Rose Matson, age 86 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at the TBRHSC on Thursday, January 17, 2019.

Rose was born on February 26, 1932 in Fort William.  She was raised locally and attended F.W.C.I. She was employed as a District Supervisor at the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs and retired in 1986 after 25 years of service.  During her retirement, Rose spent winters in Las Vegas.   She travelled extensively and a personal highlight of her life was a return trip to the Ukraine, where she met her uncle, aunt and cousins.  Rose also enjoyed time at the casino and with her friends at bingo.  She loved to spend time with family and friends.

Rose is survived by her sons Nick (Lori) and Terry; daughter Janice Desando (John); grandchildren Jazmin (Jeff), Niles, Matthew, Rachel, Antonio, Giordano, Scot (Holly), Jamie (Kelsey) and Taylor; great grandchildren Gabriel, Michael, Rhyan, Iris, Stella and Autumn.

She was predeceased by her parents Nick and Annie Kamad and brother William Kamad.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Rose’s life will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, presided by Pastor Matthew Diegel of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.  Visitation for family and friends will be begin one hour prior to the service time.   Interment will be held at a later date.  If friends so desire, donations may be made in Rose’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
