Ruby Purdy

Ruby Irene Purdy (nee Daggitt) born September 23, 1922 passed away peacefully at Pioneer Ridge Nursing Home on July 6, 2021 at the age of 98. Ruby was born in Port Arthur, Ontario.

Her and her husband Ernie lived in Red Rock for a few years, but she spent most of her life in Thunder Bay. She worked her entire career for CIBC. Her and her husband enjoyed their summers at their camp at Silver Islet and loved to travel through Northern Ontario with the Lapidary Club. Ruby was an accomplished artist and her paintings hang in many of her family’s homes.

Ruby is survived by her son Brian (Kathy); her grandchildren Nancy (Bob) Burt, Heather (Matt) Andrews, Miles (Krista) Purdy, and Ian Purdy; her sister June (Benny) Jalava; and 7 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband Ernie, daughter Lenora Ohlgren, and sister Edith Dashney.

Ruby was a gentle and kind spirit, and all who knew her loved her.
There will be a private family service and interment, followed by a Celebration of Life at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Pioneer Ridge Nursing Home, St. Joseph’s Hospital, the transitional care unit at Hogarth Riverview Manor, and Jasper Place.
