Mr Rudolph Stephen “Rudy” Lacko age 86 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in St. Joseph's Hospital, on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.

Rudy was a lifetime resident of the city and spent his growing up years in the East End attending St. Peter’s school and Vocational School. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Church. Rudy and his wife Kirsti had just celebrated their 30th wedding Anniversary this past December.  He worked at the Great Lakes Paper Company from 1951 until his retirement as shift superintendent in 1991. Rudy was a member of the Great Lakes Athletic Association, the Fort William Elks Lodge, International Union of Operating Engineers and the Knights of Columbus Fr. Maynard Council #15995.

Rudy is survived by his wife Kirsti, children Traci Ann Hughes (Ryan) Terri Lynn Lacko, grandchildren Hunter, Sydney, Dalys Lacko and Ashia, Mitchell Zemanek, sisters Jackie Exell (Bill), Doreen Macko, sister-in-law Helen and numerous nieces and nephews, stepchildren John, Scott, Mark, Patricia, Keith and families. He was predeceased by his parents Jakub and Johanna, daughter Kim, brother Frank, sister Laura Booth, brother George and brother-in-laws Pat Booth and Ron Macko.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January  9, 2018, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 10:30am, at St. Peter's Church celebrated by Rev. Joseph Arockiam.  Interment will follow in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum, St. Andrews Cemetery. If friends desire, memorials to the St. Joseph’s Foundation or St. Peter’s Parish Renovation Fund would be appreciated.
