Mr. Russell William Hrenchuk, age 62 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, with his family by his side.

Russell was born in Fort William on May 17, 1953 to Thomas and Mary Hrenchuk and was educated locally. He began his employment with Canadian Pacific Railway, working in Thunder Bay, prior to 13 years spent in Moose Jaw. He then returned home and continued working as a Carman and Foreman, until retirement in 2007. Russell was a lover of cats and a history buff. He enjoyed reenactments and was a member of the Canadian Corp of Voyagers at Fort William Historical Park. He was also a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus and was a former Grand Knight of Council #7332. Above all else, Russell was a devoted husband and father. His family was his main focus and he will be deeply missed by all of them.

Russell is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara; two sons, Bill and Rick; sister, Beverley Nurmi as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Thomas Hrenchuk; brother Tom Hrenchuk; mother-in-law and father-in-law Ursula and Roman Haas and three brothers-in-law, Guido Haas, Emil Nurmi and Frank Peto.

Funeral Services for the late Mr. Russell Hrenchuk will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 1:00PM in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, officiated by Father Terry Sawchuk. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum, St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM in the Chapel.

Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Russell to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
