It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Cahill, age 82 years, announce her passing with family by her side, on Thursday, September 21, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born and raised in Port Arthur, Ruth met the love of her life, Percy. They were married in Montreal where they started their family, before settling back in Thunder Bay.

Ruth was a woman of great faith, whose life exemplified the beatitudes. Being a humble, gentle person, she often encouraged and supported both family and her friends by her kind and loving ways. She was a good listener. Raising her family was more than her focus - it was her vocation. Family would often gather at her table for special occasions where all would feast on her delicious meals. While she loved to spoil her family, mom was known to help complete strangers too. She volunteered many hours at the Catholic Action Centre making new friends along the way.

Ruth is survived by her children, Sr. Kateri, Judy de la Rosa, Lorne (Nancy) Cahill and Connie Cahill; brother George (Dolores) Thompson, grandchildren Ryan, Lindsay, Lisa (Philip), Meghan and Sean, great grandson Joshua, as well as by many others cousins who she was close with. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband Percy, brother Bruce, nephew Mark and son-in-law John..

The family would like to express thanks and gratitude to the nurses and staff at St. Joseph's Hospice for their exceptional care; the nurses from St. Elizabeth's, especially Darcy; and the staff and doctors at the Regional Cancer Clinic and T.B.R.H.S.C.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 when family and friends will gather in Corpus Christi R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Victor De Gagne. The interment service will take place at St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held on Monday, September 25th from 5-7 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, where the Vigil Service will begin at 7 p.m. If friends so desire donations to the St. Joseph's Foundation-Hospice or the T.B.R.H.S. Foundation-Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com
