It is with great sadness and sorrow we announce the passing of Sadie Marie Canzi (Toneguzzi).
Sadie passed away at St Joes Hospital with her family by her side on April 24, 2021. Sadie was born March 8th, 1932 in Pearl, On. Sadie’s life revolved around her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy and she took pride in watching them grow and excel in life. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee with her grandsons and occasionally let them win. Her entire family loved the tradition of painting eggs for Easter at ‘Nona’s house’. Sadie frequently traveled to Alberta to see her grandchildren for special occasions. Sadie loved to cook and bake, especially for her family and friends. She was well known for her spaghetti sauce and lasagna. Her fried chicken rarely lasted more than a day. Yearly requests from all over Thunder bay came in for her Christmas cake and Easter bread. Sadie’s house was a gathering place for all friends and family. A warm welcome was extended to all who came to visit. A fresh cup of coffee was a must and no visitor left without a full stomach. Her pastimes included cross word books, beautiful puzzles and watching her nightly game shows.
Sadie was predeceased by her husband Marcello, the love of her life for 54 years, her parents Albino and Antonietta Toneguzzi, her brothers Roy, Louis (Netti) and her sister Dina (Bucky). She is survived by her daughters Regina (Bill) and Loretta (Dennis), her grandsons Bill (Jeannette), Graham (Jasman), Keith (Lauren), Jason (Sara), Mike (Jennifer) and Ryan and her great-grandchildren Sazja, Zander, Locklyn, Grace, Sadie, Olivia, Lukah, Mia, Brynley and her brother Leo (Lilian) and her sister in-law Dixie. Special thank you to Sadie’s extended family members, nieces Debbie and Adeline, nephew Doug, cousin Velia, and neighbor Marie, for their warm visits, bringing lovely meals, keeping her company, checking on her the past few months and for being there for when she needed them.
A private family service will be livestreamed to the Blake Funeral Chapel facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/BlakeFuneralChapel) on Friday, April 30, 2021 starting at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the TBRHSC cardiac unit and Cancer research fund.
