Sandra Ann Niemi

It is with deep sorrow, we announce that Sandra Ann Niemi, age 70 passed away peacefully on October 14, 2018 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre after a long battle with ALS.

Sandra was born on December 31st, 1947 in Port Arthur, Ontario. She worked for the City of Thunder Bay as a switch board operator then went on to work as a book keeper for many years and retired working in retail. In her spare time she loved to knit, and most of all loved spending time with her friends and family.

Sandra will be sadly missed and is survived by her mother Jeanette George, two sons Jason (Heather) and Garrison, grandson Owen, brothers and sisters Michael (Lisa), Claudette, Pat (Yvone), David (Mena), Linda (Bruce) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles

She is predeceased by her father Ambrose William George and husband James Niemi.

Special thanks to Nurse Donald Hutchinson from the LHIN (she loved you) and to her close friends Debbie, Ann, Sandy and Stacey for being true friends during this hard time, and Mena George for the nonstop offers of help and bringing flowers.

A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held in the chapel of the Harbourview Funeral Centre on Friday, October 19 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Father Luigi Filippini of St. Anthony’s Church. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m.
