Mr. Seppo Juhani Nevala, age 73 years, a resident of Upsala, passed away suddenly on October 11, 2015. He was born in Finland, immigrated to Canada with his family as a child, and settled in Thunder Bay for a short time.
The family moved to Upsala where they purchased property on the lake, known as Nevala’s Pit.
Seppo made his living working in the bush for various companies. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter and trapper. Seppo’s hobbies included playing cribbage, curling and spending time with friends and family. He loved children; his own, his grandchildren and any others that were lucky to know him, as he always gave them treats, candy or change to be able to purchase some.
Seppo will be sadly missed by his daughters Erica Moore, Mary Anne Moore and Sabrina Boucher, his son Seppo “Sonny” Moore, step-daughter Zena Moore, former spouse Elizabeth Moore, along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives as well. He was predeceased by his father Juho, mother Martta, his two brothers Eric and Sampo, sister Eva, niece Liisa, and nephew Adam.
Visitation for family and friends of the late Seppo Nevala will take place at Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Funeral Services will be held in Upsala, at the Upsala Community Hall, located on Community Hall Road, on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Upsala Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Seppo’s memory may be made to the Shelter House, Thunder Bay.
