Sergio "Luciano" Bortuzzo

It is with great sorrow that the family announces his passing on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the age of 86 at Pinewood Court.

Sergio was born in the town of Spilimbergo, Italy. He emmigrated to (Fort William) Thunder Bay in 1956. Upon his arrival to Thunder Bay, he was immediately hired by R. Corazza Ltd. to be his right hand man. His loyalty, hard work and dedication to the company lasted for 40 years. In 1959, upon arrival of his future love of his life Anita, they were married. A union that lasted for 59 years. They were blessed with two children. Sergio's passion was his dedication to the Da Vinci Centre.  He was on many committees and volunteered his time and expertise. Sergio also enjoyed bowling, bocce and the many activities of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Anita, son Oscar (Susan), daughter Maurizia Kis (Raymond), grandchildren  Robert, Kathleen Baird (Ryan), Stephen Kis (Ashly), Jennifer Rathje (Blake) and Lauren Kis (Dan), his brother Franco (Madeline) in Vancouver, sister Anna Maria (Gianni) in Italy. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m., at St. Dominic's Church celebrated by Rev. Maurizio Maifredi c.s.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held on Sunday February 25, 2018 in the Blake Funeral Chapel from 2:00 until 4:00 pm. If friends desire, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
