Severino Pretto, loving husband, father, Nonno and Zio, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on Wednesday May 17, 2017 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital.

Severino grew up in Vicenza Italy where he met the love of his life, Irma, got married in 1950 and moved to Fort William. Upon arriving in Canada, Severino took a job as a Foreman with Northern Wood Preservers where he worked for 43 years.

Severino was a proud and devoted husband and father, to whom family meant everything. He was most happy when he was out at camp with his family. The other love in Severino’s life was his gardens, both at home and at camp. He could always be found working in them but it was never working to him, it was his passion and one that he was always so proud of.

He was an active and proud member of the Da Vinci Centre since its inception and the Principe Di Piemonte Society. He could always be found helping out in a variety of ways but will be most remembered for his gnocchi sauce.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Irma (Mina), his children Linda Rosi (Orlando), Dario (Kim), grandchildren Manuela, Andrea, Jon-Paul, Luke, Chiara, Julianne, Christian, Aleesa and families. Great grandchildren Emma, Sophie, Gabriel. Siblings Bertilla, Luciana, Angelo and families, as well and numerous nieces and nephews both here and in Italy. Predeceased by his son John, mother Lavinia, his father Valente and sister Matilde.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. If friends desire memorials to St. Joseph’s Foundation would be appreciated.
