Mr. Shawn Kirkpatrick, age 70 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2015.

Shawn was born on July 18, 1945 in Nipigon to William (Bill) and Delores (Dodi) Kirkpatrick and grew up in Schreiber where he attended elementary and high school. He attended Lakehead University in Thunder Bay from 1966-1969.

In 1970, he took an apprenticeship electrician course through Kimberly Clark Mill in Terrace Bay and upon completion, moved back to Thunder Bay to begin his career as an electrician with Great Lakes Paper. He remained in this position until his retirement in 2009. Shawn's greatest accomplishments were his two beautiful daughters Shawna and Meghan.

Shawn loved to watch sports with football being his favorite. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf, hunting and going to the family camps at Walker's Lake and Rossport, ON.  He also loved to cook and BBQ. It didn't matter if it was minus 40 degrees outside, you could always find Shawn by his BBQ.

He is survived by his daughter Meghan (Sean) Adams, grandchildren Sara and Frankie Cicchitano and brother Brock (Janet) Kirkpatrick, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Shawn was predeceased by his beautiful daughter Shawna Kirkpatrick, parents Bill & Dodi Kirkpatrick, brother Kevin Kirkpatrick and sister Shelby Hurley.

Shawn will be sadly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services for the late Shawn Kirkpatrick will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 N. Cumberland St. with services led by Rev. Gordon Holroyd. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time. Private interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Shawn's memory to Canadian Mental Health Association, Thunder Bay Branch or the Sister Margaret Smith Centre.

Peacefully sleeping, resting at last,
The world's weary trouble and trials are past.
In silence he suffered, in patience he bore,
Till God called him home to suffer no more.
