The family of Shea Chan (nee Jung) is saddened to announce her passing at Lakehead Manor, in Thunder Bay, Ontario on May 30, 2016.

Shea Jung was born in Sar Gong, Guangzhou, China and immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s. In Thunder Bay, she met Duck Yue Chan and they were married in 1959. She worked alongside her husband for many years and together they ran the successful Chan’s Restaurant. Mom was a fantastic gardener, great cook and enjoyed spending time with her children.

She is survived by her husband Duck; children Jeff (Karen), Pensy, Madge and Brenda (Ted); brother Sang Let Jung; nephew Parker; nieces Dinah and Linda and great-niece Alana. She was predeceased by her parents Gim Oy and Suey Tong Jung.

Shea’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Delene Nelson and Dr. Kristin Reid for the years of care prior to her admission to Lakehead Manor – you were wonderful with Mom. We would also like to thank the staff of Lakehead Manor, and especially those of the 6th floor and dining room, for their care of Mom.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life for Shea Chan will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
