It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Bacon.

Our dear Mum and Nana passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on the afternoon of Saturday April 26, 2014 at the age of 81. Sheila Hornby was born in Ilford, England, married Ken Bacon in 1952, and immigrated to Canada the following year.

Sheila adored her children and grandchildren and family gatherings were her greatest joy. She enjoyed cooking roast beef dinners, challenging her grandchildren to games of Scrabble, knitting treasured sweaters, playing bridge and entertaining friends and family at Loon Lake. She looked forward to traveling across Canada to visit with her family.

Sheila was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Ken Bacon and sister Mollie Thomas. She will be lovingly missed by her four children, Christine (Alex) du Plessix of Calgary, Michael (Brenda) of Kelowna, Susanne (John) Lopez of Thunder Bay, and Jane (John) Tracogna of Whitby, and 12 grandchildren: Justin and Phillip (Kayley) du Plessix, Ashley, Jordan, Andrew and Spencer Bacon, Kayla, Jonathon and Nicholas Lopez, and Stefan, Austin, and Lauren Tracogna.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 1st, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church with Rev. Chris Harper presiding. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.

We are grateful to the C.C.A.C. support workers and nurses for the care and compassion provided which allowed for Mum to remain in her home.
