Shirley Boucher

Shirley Boucher (nee Nethery), 89 years, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 31, 2017 at Hogarth Riverview Manor in Thunder Bay.

Shirley lived life to the fullest. Her favourite things were her beloved cat, boating, bird watching, family gatherings, her camp at Obonga Lake, reading books by Canadian authors, travelling and her winter home in Florida.

Mom was a radio/television copy writer starting in Wingham in 1940 and at CFCO Chatham. She might be best remembered as part owner of Walkers Marine in Thunder Bay until she retired.

Shirley is survived by her 3 sons Paul (Judy), Barry and Duane, grandchildren Danielle (Mike), David (Lana) and Nicole (AJ), great grandchildren Maddy, Mitchell and Mya, as well as sister Beverly. She is predeceased by her husband Lee and 4 siblings.

A very special thank you goes to the team on 6 South at Hogarth Riverview Manor for their kind and compassionate care.

Cremation has taken place and family and friends are welcome to attend a Come and Go Reception in Shirley’s honour on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A burial in the family plot in Belgrave, Ontario will take place at a later date.

Finally, here is Mom’s favourite poem by William W. Campbell:

Indian Summer

Along the line of smoky hills

The crimson forest stands,

And all day the blue-jay calls

Throughout the autumn lands.

Now by the brook the maple leans

With all his glory spread,

And all the sumachs on the hills

Have turned their green to red.

Now by great marshes wrapt in mist,

Or past some river’s mouth,

Throughout the long, still autumn day

Wild birds are flying south.
