It is with broken hearts we say goodbye to Shirley Hope (Wallick), age 70 years, who passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the TBRHSC on July 11, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She married the love of her life, David, in May of 1973 and shared an incredible 51 years together. During this time, they enjoyed travelling to Graceland, Las Vegas, and trips to Duluth. Many nights were spent slow dancing to Elvis Presley. It did not matter where they went, as long as they were together.

She was a dedicated wife and mother. Time spent with her daughter was deeply treasured. She embraced her role as “Hockey Nan” to her loving grandson and cherished her beautiful granddaughter. They were the apple of her eye.

She will be remembered for her strength, courage, and determination.

She leaves behind her beloved husband David, daughter Jennifer (Vyt) and her grandchildren Joshua and Sophia; her siblings John (Dawn), Linda (Marcel), Rusty (Sheila) and Jimmy (Darlene); mother-in-law Marie Hope, sisters-in-law Sharon DeWolfe (Jimmy), Wendy Darcis (Bob) Pamela Jensen (Edwin) and brother-in-law Robert Hope. Predeceased by her parents William and Gladys Wallick, father-in-law Laddie Hope and step-siblings Stan and Kay.

Special thank you to the Oncology Ward at the TBRHSC, especially Dr Simpson, Carly, Maddy and Bailey. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.

As per her wishes, there will be no funeral service.

Love me tender, love me true, all my dreams fulfill. For my darling, I love you and I always will.”

Rest easy my love. David
