Shirley is survived by her sons Mark (Birgit), Tod and James (Annette) as well as her grandchildren, Carrie, Rowan (and their mother Janet), Mia, Megan and Madelin.
Shirley and Bill met in high school in North Bay and were married shortly thereafter. They moved to Sturgeon Falls, then Cameron Falls, Bruce Mines, Thunder Bay, Scarborough, and then back to Thunder Bay, where they retired. Shirley taught her family about gardening, camping, canoeing, skiing and even cooking, as well as valuable advice on living, loving and how to be a good partner in life.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful caring staff at Chartwell as well as the nursing staff at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and at Hogarth Riverview Manor, Willow Ward, for their care and support.
At Shirley’s request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 26th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 494 Leslie Avenue, followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay, 180 Park Avenue, Suite 310, Thunder Bay, ON P7B 6J4, 807-345-9556 would be appreciated by the family.
