Silvia Conci

We sadly announce the peaceful passing of our mother and nana, Silvia Marcellina Conci, age 92, on February 12, 2022 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Silvia was born on January 4, 1930 in Grimaldi, Italy. She came to Thunder Bay at the age of 21 to marry her beloved husband Emilio. Together, they had 4 children. Silvia always had a strong will to work. She spent most of her days caring for her children as well as working as a seamstress.

For a number of years, she successfully ran her own business “Silvia’s Spaghetti Spot”. Later in life she was employed with the schoolboards as a lunch supervisor. It gave her great pleasure to care for the children. Above all Silvia loved her family. She expressed her affection through her countless Italian family dinners, late night espresso visits, along with her warm embraces. She loved life and lived everyday to the fullest. Silvia was fiercely independent and was always there when you needed her. We will always remember our mom as the one who did everything with love.

Silvia is survived by her children: Mary McLean (Frank), Anita Ferguson (Chris), Terry Conci (Luisa), and Debbie Hayes (Don); grandchildren: Sylvia, Russell (Laura), Christopher (Kate), Jenessa (Rocky), Mitchell, Carter and Austin, Sylvia (Tyler), Jimmy (Emma); great grandchildren: Fulton, Eliana, Mila, Grace, Alea and Tyson. She was predeceased by her parents Amadeo and Gilda Giardino, husband Emilio, grandson Paul McLean, sister Maria Bianchi, and brothers Fernando and Theodore Giardino.

Our sincere thanks to Dr. Bassuony, the nurses and psw’s on 2B at the TBRHSC for providing excellent care.
