It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Sophie Katchen, she lead a long and productive life. 

She passed away peacefully Friday, December 2, 2016 with her family by her side.  Sophie was born in Fort William on July 4, 1925.  She married Nick in 1942.  Sophie had several jobs over the years. 

She enjoyed life to the fullest.  She loved her garden and flower beds, mom had a “big green thumb”.  Sophie loved to make pickles and everyone who tasted them loved them , she was known as the “Pickle Lady”. 

Mom also enjoyed going to Grand Portage to gamble, enjoyed baking and spending time with her family for a good game of cards.  She will be sadly missed by daughter Gloria (Dave), son Terry (Lorraine), grandchildren Jeremy, Nastaja (Michael) Mitchell, Marshall, Leslie, Connor and numerous other relatives. 

Sophie was predeceased by her husband Nick, son Chris, her parents Catherine and Stanislaw Myslicki as well as her brothers and sisters. 

She was the only family member left.  The family would like to thank all the staff at the TBRHSC 1A for all your support and caring and making mom comfortable.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 11:00am, at Church of the Holy Cross. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.  Panachyda will be offered Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 7:00pm in the Church of the Holy Cross.   

If friends desire, memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Sophie Katchen will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
