Mr. Stan Rzeszut, age 94 years, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, November 24, 2017 at TBRHSC.

Stan was born January 1, 1923 in Komorrow Poland. In 1945 Stan met Victoria and in 1947 they were married in Germany. In January 1951 Stan came to Canada and started working in a bush camp for Great West Timber and 7 months later his Wife and daughter came to join him.

In 1953 he began working at Port Arthur Lumber where he worked for 40 years until his retirement. Stan was a member of St. Casimir’s Church, Polish Legion Branch #149 where he was a member for over 60 years serving in the Color Party and as Sergeant at Arms, and was President of the Polish Mutual Benefit Society for 14 years.

Stan is survived by his soul mate Anna Rybachuk, his children Josie Cosgrave, Peter Rzeszut (Laurie), and Celina (Stephen) Rubenick. His grandchildren Patricia Cosgrave, Vicki (Lincoln) Galbraith, P.J. (Barb) Rzeszut, Mary Rubenick, Pam Rubenick (Chris) and great grandchildren Cole Rzeszut, Kaylee and Carter Galbraith. Sisters Bernice (Thunder Bay) and Sofie (Poland). His nieces Josephine and Rosemary as well as other nieces and nephews in Poland. He is also survived by Anna’s children and grandchildren Boguslawa (Richard, Thomas, Mirek, Andy), Edward (Regina, Justin, Monica), Anna’s brother Nick (Heather) and by his godson Stan Kuzma.
 

He was predeceased by his parents, wife Victoria, daughter-in-law MaryAnn Rzeszut, son-in-law Terry Cosgrave, two brothers and three sisters from Poland.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, when family and friends will gather at St. Casimir's Church, 613 McKenzie Street, at 9:00 am for visitation with mass to follow at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
