Mr. Stanley James Warr, age 96 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 7, 2016 in Hogarth-Riverview Manor.

Stan was born on April 3, 1920 in Brandon, Manitoba and was raised in Binscarth. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII. Following the war, Stan worked various jobs including Deer Lodge in Winnipeg, the Fort William Clinic, retiring from Great Lakes Paper in 1986. Stan loved sports, especially golf in the summer, and curling in the winter, which allowed him to make many friends. He was a life-long member of the Fort William Country Club. Stan enjoyed travelling with his wife and sons and spending time with all of his family. He also loved the coffee gang at Tim Hortons. Stan was a fixture in Westfort and was well known for walking his dogs, Patches and Sailor around the neighbourhood. He was well loved by all who knew him and will be always remembered.

Stan will be missed by his wife of nearly 50 years, Emma-Charlene “Chummy” (nee Richmond); sons Bradley (Maureen) and David (Florine) and grandchild Noah Warr as well as extended grandchildren Ryan (Michelle), Jess (Sam) and great-grandchildren Evan and Landen. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Gregory, Janice, Clayton, Todd and Cheryl, Marilynne, Claudia and Beverlee; great-nieces and nephews John, Chris, Chelsea and Breanne and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Selina Warr; sister Doreen ; niece Valerie and his first wife, Elaine Johnson.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hogarth-Riverview Manor for your excellent care and the compassion given to Stan. Thank you also to the residents and their families for the love and kindness they have shown throughout Stan's time there.

Funeral Services for the late Mr. Stanley Warr will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 11:00AM in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, officiated by Rev. Randy Boyd. A private family interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Stanley to the Alzheimer Society or St. Joseph's Care Group would be greatly appreciated.
