Stipan (Stipé/Steve) Matic, age 79 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 8, 2021 in St. Joseph's Hospice with his loving family by his side.

Stipé was born in Ribnik, Croatia on March 12, 1942. He moved to Thunder Bay in 1970. His wife, mother and first daughter followed 2 years later. Second daughter was born a few years after. Stipé was a very hard worker and dedicated employee who enjoyed his many years working in various bush camps in the surrounding area. In his spare time he could always be found in his meticulously organized garage working on projects using his vast self-taught knowledge of the many trades.

After retirement he devoted more time to his vegetable garden and ongoing projects. Stipé always made time to lend a helping hand to anyone in need of his expertise and many skills.  Although not a mechanic or carpenter by trade,  Stipé was a natural craftsman who built many items, ranging from furniture, trailers, garages, sheds,  cabinets, homemade tools and gadgets. He also maintained and repaired his own vehicle and others. Steve and son-in-law Ted spent countless hours together discussing their current and future projects and collaborated together on many of them. His guidance, knowledge and advice will be missed by all.

After each snowfall, Steve was the first one out in the neighbourhood snow blowing his and neighbour's driveways. He really enjoyed it and was able to continue doing it even up to the last snowfall this past March.

Stipé will be missed by his devoted and loving wife Ankica, daughters Katica and Rosie (Ted), dear longtime friends and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Kata Matic and sister Marijana.

Due to the present COVID restrictions, a private funeral service will be held and interment will take place in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.

If so desired, donations in memory of Stipan to the TBRHSF Northern Cancer Fund would be appreciated.
