Susan Mariam McCarthy born Chapleau, September 9, 1957 passed away February 25 2020 St. Joseph’s Hospital Thunder Bay.

Susan is survived by brothers Jack (Tena), Bruce (Diana) sister Janet (Wayne) Murphy. Godfather Murray Hazen of Chapleau. Also survived by nephews and niece Sean Murphy (Terri Lynn), Ryan McCarthy (Kellie), Shannon McCarthy, Matthew Murphy (Trisha) Great nephews and nieces. Hailey McCarthy, Taryn McCarthy, Patrick McCarthy, Reese McCarthy and Molly Murphy, Donovan Murphy. Predeceased by parents Edward and Janet McCarthy and brother Denis and Godmother Phyllis Hazen.

Susan began working for Bell Canada in Chapleau and moved on to Sudbury and Ottawq in managerial positions, retiring in Ottawa. Following retirement she move to Thunder Bay then relocated back to her roots in Chapleau. When her health became an issue she was helped greatly by family and childhood friends in Chapleau to travel for medical treatment both to Timmins and Sudbury.

As her health declined she moved back to Thunder Bay where treatment was more readily available to her. Susan passed away peacefully just as the sun was coming up on a new day and a new beginning. We are very grateful for the care she received at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the past six month. We are indebted to our family members, friends and parish family who took the time out of busy lives to visit and help Susan along her journey, your actions will not be forgotten.

Funeral Mass for Susan McCarthy will take place at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Archibald Street Thunder Bay on Thursday March 5 at 10:30 am. Family and friends will gather in the summer for burial in Sheenboro Quebec where she will rest with her parents in St. Paul the Hermit Cemetery.
