Taimi Kallio, aged 105 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at her residence at Hogarth Riverview Manor.
Born in Fort William, she was the daughter of Nolalu Pioneer Settlers John and Amanda Oja. She married Richard Kallio in 1935 and made their home in Nolalu until she moved to Thunder Bay in 2003. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Taimi’s main interests were her family, home and garden. Her favorite hobbies were jigsaw and crossword puzzles which she did until 2 years ago.
The family loved her homemade biscuits, lemon meringue pies and spareribs on special occasions.
She always had a good sense of humour and a ready smile for everyone.
“Momma” is survived by son Arnold (Elsie) Kallio; daughter Norine Batson; grandsons Rob (Heather) Batson, Russ Batson and Trevor (Jackie) Kallio; great grandchildren Kyle Batson, Audrey and Shawna Batson and Laila and Tyler Kallio; great great granddaughter Alison Shnipper; nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard; son Delmar; son-in-law Gordon Batson; her parents and seven siblings.
Funeral services for the late Taimi Kallio will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home with Pastor Garry Heintz of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service. A reception will be held in Jenkens Reception
Centre and interment will follow in Nolalu Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Redeemer Lutheran Church or charity of choice would be appreciated.
