Teresina Lombardo

Teresina Lombardo passed away peacefully at Southbridge Pinewood on Thursday, May 20, 2021 with her family at her side.

Teresina was born on December 24, 1927 in Roccella Ionica, Italy. She married Carlo Lombardo on February 19, 1944 and together they celebrated 69 years of marriage. Her husband moved to Canada in search of work and the family followed in 1954. They settled in Fort William and raised eight children, four boys and four girls.

Teresina kept a busy household with frequent visits by their many Italian relatives and friends. She liked to cook and bake bread and cookies, especially savoiardi for the grandchildren. Children were the love of Teresina's life. Christmas dinners were always a sumptuous family affair.

Teresina is survived and lovingly remembered by sons Vince (Gwen), Dominic (Mary) and Cosimo (Alecia) and by daughters Rosa (Antonio) Muia, Joanne (Dominic) Fiorenza of Toronto and Anna (Antonio) Commisso and Pasqualina Lombardo of Siderno, Italy.

Teresina is survived by brothers Salvatore and Frank (Mary) Mollicola and by sisters Giovannina, Santina, Maria and Emilia (Gino). Teresina will be sadly missed by her 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Numerous other relatives survive in Thunder Bay, Toronto, and Italy.

Teresina was predeceased by her husband Carlo, infant daughter, son Domiano, sister Lina, brother Vincenzo, son-in-law Rocco, grandson Carmelo as well as other brothers/sisters-in-law in Thunder Bay and Italy.

The family would like to thank the staff of Pinewood for the care of their mother during this difficult Covid time. Due to pandemic restrictions, a private family funeral will be held; those wishing to attend the service virtually can watch via livestream at the Blake Funeral Chapel facebook page (facebook.com/BlakeFuneralChapel) on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay would be appreciated.
