Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, stepmother, grandma, great grandma, sister and aunt. Thelma Adaline Owen, age 95, went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2025, departing peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of her family. Thelma was born in Stevensville, Ontario, one of seven children to her parents Violet & Claire Montague.

Thelma lived a life devoted to her family. She was a source of love, compassion, encouragement and devotion, and will be remembered for her unwavering faith, kind heart and generous spirit. Thelma found strength in the promises of Scripture and comfort in God’s eternal love.

Thelma deeply cherished time spent with her loved ones – family was a cornerstone of her world. Some of her happiest days were spent at the cabin out on Eagle Lake, where she found joy, peace and cherished memories. In earlier years, the family camp at Sandstone Lake was a place she enjoyed and was happy to see it passed down to her children. Thelma also had a love for flowers and took great pride in maintaining her beautiful garden beds around her home.

Thelma was the beloved wife of Jack Owen. They married in 1976 and had 49 wonderful years together. Thelma will be deeply missed by her children Clair, Cindy, and Carl and her stepchildren John, Rob, Tom and Colleen. She was also a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, all of whom brought her immeasurable joy. She will be deeply missed by her beloved sister, Marjorie Hayward and fondly remembered by many extended family members and dear friends.

Thelma was predeceased by her parents, Violet & Claire Montague, her siblings Irene Wilder, Harry Montague, Ruth Hayward, Florence Rutten, and Roy Montague. As well her first husband, George Homer and her grandson Jeffrey Pawluk.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and support staff at ParaMed for their kindness, compassion and care during Thelma’s final days.

A graveside burial service will be held on June 7, 2025 at 12:00pm with family and friends gathering at Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Evangelical Free Church in Thelma’s memory.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
