Mrs. Theresa Osipenko (nee: Sajna), passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday July 19, 2021. Theresa was born in Fort William on Oct 12, 1930 to Andrew and Katarina Sajna who immigrated to Canada in the early 1900’s from Slovakia. Theresa was a proud, life-long resident of Fort William (Thunder Bay).

Theresa will be sadly missed by her brother Bernard Sajna (Colleen), surviving children Beverly Calvin (Vic), Gail McKay, Dave Osipenko, Larry Osipenko (Lori), son-in-law John Pruys, grandchildren Eric Pruys (Crystal), Kevin Pruys (Marlena), Allison Charlebois (Jordan), Amanda Pennings (Ryan), Jason Calvin (Jenni), Matthew Calvin, Tyler McKay, Chrystal McKay, Dayna Brusven (Mike), Kyle Osipenko (Katie), Bailey Osipenko (Chris), Alex Osipenko (Marissa), Sarah Osipenko (Mike), her 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Theresa was pre-deceased by her loving husband Stephen Osipenko, eldest daughter Dianne Pruys, son-in-law Terry McKay and Theresa’s siblings Emil Sajna (Brenda), George Sajna (Irene), Steve Sajna, Mary Sajna, Catherine Sajna and Andrew Sajna.

Theresa loved hosting family gatherings, keeping up with the grandchildren, site-seeing, going for walks, enjoying her flowers and knitting.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 22 at 10:30am. The services will be held at Blake’s Funeral Chapel, 200 May Street South, Thunder Bay Ontario. Due to COVID restrictions, masks must be worn by all attendees while indoors. A private family burial will be held at Mountainview Cemetery immediately following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cardiac Fund would be appreciated.
