It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of a truly great man. Tim Crago passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 26, 2018 while working outside at his summer residence near Pass Lake, Ontario at the age of 63.

Tim was born July 7, 1954 in Port Arthur, Ontario and lived his early years there. He excelled in school and sports, playing minor hockey, ending with the Junior Canadians. After graduating from high school, Tim, and the love of his life Debbie, left for southern Ontario where Tim attended the University of Toronto. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying, and they moved to Calgary where he began his career with Shell Canada. Once settled in Calgary, they started their family with their two children, Graham and Bryanne, and Calgary became home.

Tim’s close to 40 year professional career encompassed him owning and/or managing geomatics technology service companies in Calgary. Tim was part of the team who purchased, developed and used the first commercially available GPS equipment in 1978. He grew into an industry leader in Doppler, GPS, Inertial and Laser/Lidar systems. His years of international work took him all over the world including countless trips to the Middle East, Europe and SE Asia.

Tim was a fun loving guy who enjoyed sitting with friends and family chatting about the past and present. In the last few years, his biggest joy was time spent with his grandchildren, who absolutely adored him. His generosity was boundless, helping friends and family when the need arose.

Tim’s lifelong dream of building a log cabin, secluded in the bush beside a creek, was fulfilled last fall with the completion of his summer residence near Pass Lake. This dream project allowed him to work alongside his best friend, his Father.

Tim is survived by his son Graham (Marie), their children Mason and Bronwyn, daughter Bryanne (Raymond), their children Wyler and Eden, father Sam, brother Gary (Diana), sister Susan (Bob), dear friend Ana-Marija, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many close friends in Calgary and Thunder Bay. He was predeceased by his wife Debbie, and mother Betty.

As per Tim’s wishes, there will be no service.
