The stars in the sky shone much brighter Friday, May 11, 2018, as God welcomed his newest angel into heaven.

Tristan Shawn Arthur Gehl was born in Thunder Bay, ON. October 14, 2014 to parents Shawn and Kennedy Gehl and to his beautiful big sisters Sierra and Emma. From the very moment of his arrival to this earth, Tristan brought an enveloping spirit to his family and to anyone who met him, that made them feel pure, innocent and unadulterated joy.

His beautiful, wild, curls, his twinkly eyes, rosy cheeks and the world’s most bright and amazing smile were just a few of the things which drew people to him. Tristan was a mild mannered, good natured, happy child who loved with all of his being. Whenever saw someone he loved, that trademark smile would spread across his face, his eyes would light up and his excitement was translated through his greetings; kisses, hugs and happiness was all he knew how to give.

Tristan’s favorite things included Bob-Bob (Sponge Bob), and Paw Troll (Paw Patrol) and would excitedly sing along with the theme songs as they played. He loved balloons, playing with his toy trucks, building tall towers out of his block collection but most of all he loved hiding Gramma Doreen’s back-scratcher because behind all of his goodness was a teeny tiny bit of mischief. His favourite evenings were spent proudly sporting the Trademark Toronto Blue and White while shouting “Go Leafs Go” with Daddy. Tristan loved his family so very much. Not only his immediate family but his extended family as well. Tristan had a special relationship with everyone he met and loved and he made them feel like they were most important people in the world.

Tristan is survived by his mommy and daddy Kennedy and Shawn Gehl, and his big sisters, Sierra and Emma Gehl. He also leaves behind his Gramma Doreen Johnson, Great-Great Auntie Eileen Rice, Uncle Kevin Johnson, Auntie Ami Culp, cousins Lynken, Jade, Jazmin and Jewelea. Auntie Tanya and Uncle Jeff Forneri and Cousin Bailey. Great Grandma Judy and Ron Burton, Auntie Roberta Penner and Cousins, Charissa, Cassi and Nolan. Auntie Shayla Penner, Uncle Phil Wawia and cousins Kylie, Brady, Connor and Thomas. Auntie Cagney Blanchette and cousins Peter and Cameron. Tristan is also survived by numerous Great Aunties, Uncles and second and third generational cousins.

Tristan is predeceased by his Grandma Camille Copp, Grandpa Arthur Bernst and Uncle Bradley Penner. Tristan touched many people in his short time on this earth and leaves behind many friends and loved ones.
