Valerie Demers (Major)

After a courageous battle with cancer, Valerie passed away with her family by her side. She cheated death more than once to take care of her family. Nothing brought her more joy than welcoming people to their camp and extending her arms to newcomers. Everyone who knew Valerie touched her heart. She loved to help, cook and enjoyed living every day to the max and would take every opportunity to be with her grandchildren. Her 45 year marriage to Patrick, working career and volunteer time spent with the Catholic Women’s League, Longlac Public Library and Longlac Cancer Society, brought her several new friendships and memories.

She will be missed by her daughter Sherry (Ken), sons Larry (Helene) and Dean (Corinne) Brothers: Roger (Loretta), Pete (Val), and Randy(Wanda). Sisters: Barb, Brenda, and Terry (Ian), her grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her in-laws whom were very special to her.

She is predeceased by her husband Patrick Demers, parents Annie and Orele Major, her in-laws Leontine and Wellez Demers and several other family members and life long friends.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 766 Sprague Street with Rev. Rey Ronquillo officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Underground Gym would be appreciated.
