Veikko Kalevi Aro, age 72 years, passed away May 15, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born in Lapua, Finland January 8, 1945. He immigrated to Canada in 1960 settling at Whitefish Lake with his adopted parents Arvo and Sylvia Aro.
Veikko was employed for 37 years at Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, retiring in 2000. He spent many happy summers at the cottage at Whitefish Lake, fishing, hunting, and enjoying nature. Winters were spent in Texas and travelling to places near and far.
Veikko is survived by wife Sharon, daughters Tammy (Larry) and Tanja (Rick); grandsons Randy and Matthew Hanson and Thomas Aro. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. presided by Pastor Brian Falkenholt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Veikko’s memory to Christ Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery.
