Verna Gilbart was born in Kenora, Ontario on February 19, 1925. Her father Maurice Brown was a Railroad Engineer with the CPR. Verna and Lloyd Gilbart met and fell in love in 1942, and were married on December 31, 1943, they stayed in love for 80 years. Verna and Lloyd moved to Lethbridge, Alberta in 1960 and then to Thunder Bay in 1966. They belonged to the Thunder Bay Country Club where Verna was an avid curler and golfer.

After Lloyd’s discharge from the RCAF he became a Ford Dealer, and thru Ford Verna and Lloyd travelled the world. They spent 36 winters in Arizona until Verna became stricken with dementia. She spent the last 3 ½ years at Hogarth Riverview Manor and passed away peacefully on May 16, 2021 in her sleep at the age 96. It is important to Lloyd that he express his gratitude to the staff at 5 North Hogarth Riverview Manor. They cared for Verna so lovingly every day. They loved her and she loved them.

Verna and Lloyd had 3 wonderful children, Randy, (Margaret) predeceased, Terry (Joy) a local lawyer and Lynda (Rob) Brink, 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
