Veronica passed away at Pinewood Court on Wednesday, April 6th, 2016.

Veronica Elizabeth Puzianoski was born at Birch River, Manitoba on November 10th, 1924.

Veronica moved to Winnipeg to work at age seventeen, but was soon sent to the Hawker-Siddeley plant in Fort William to help with the manufacture of aircraft for the war. She met Erik Tornblom on a Sunday outing to Kakabeka Falls.

Erik and Veronica were married in 1944, and had three children: Anna-Liza (deceased 1995), Timothy (deceased 2010) and Terence. The family moved to Atikokan in 1954, where the kids were raised.

Veronica and Erik moved to Longlac in 1971, and enjoyed a full and wonderful life there, until Erik passed away in 2009.

Soon after Erik passing, Veronica took an apartment in Thunder Bay, where she lived until going to Pinewood Court in 2013.

Veronica was a friendly person who participated enthusiastically in every social activity. Veronica enjoyed time spent in service groups, at games and in competitions. Many trips were made with Erik across Canada; thru the States; and to Europe, New Zealand and Australia.

She was a devoted mother and wife who gave a special kind of honour to the title of "homemaker". It has to be said that from Veronica's many special recipes, her cabbage rolls were the best ever made. And many have said so!

Veronica is best remembered for her stoic character. She never complained and when asked, always answered: "Oh, fine." Many have also enjoyed the slightly sarcastic remarks that she used at appropriate times.

Veronica Tornblom leaves behind her son Terry, as well as four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who all lovingly remember her as "Bapcia" ("bup-cha") which is Polish for "grandma".

Her family was present for the last few days of Veronica's life. Heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Pinewood Court who kept Veronica comfortable and peaceful, and provided for visitors in a most caring way.

A memorial for Erik and Veronica is planned, to be held this summer in Longlac. Interment at Stanley Hill Cemetery.
