It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Mr. Vesa Vanska, age 60 years, who passed away at his residence on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Vesa was born in Helsinki, Finland on March 10, 1958, the son of Kauko and Raili Vanska. Vesa immigrated to Port Arthur as a young boy with his family.
A hardworking man he built his businesses, Vesmar Custom Homes and Alpha Products, from the ground up. He was a very talented builder, and was always available to help others. A loyal, honest and sensitive man, Vesa loved spending time with family and friends, whether it was hosting parties and making his famous pizzas or just sharing in good times. He enjoyed playing various sports and was also very involved with the local Finnish Community. His life revolved around his family, especially his 4 boys whom he loved dearly. At the hockey arena, you could always see a Vanska boy on the ice and Vesa there cheering them on.
Vesa will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Ginette, sons Sam, Marc, Eric and Kai, his parents Kauko and Raili Vanska, sister Kirsi and husband Alan Morris as well as sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street. Following cremation, a service to celebrate Vesa's life will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Hilldale Lutheran Church with Rev. Jari Lahtinen presiding.
