Dependable, responsible, loyal, caring and dedicated. These are some of the qualities that describe Vince, who unexpectedly passed away at the age of 54. Vince was born and raised in Thunder Bay. He grew up in his loving family home on Mission Island which was a lot of fun for all of us but especially for Vince and his brother John. They had toys galore, dirt bikes, snow machines, dune buggy’s, cars and trucks. Together they would tinker around for hours in the garage coming up with ways to either modify or fix things.
He always spoke of the freedom that they had to go anywhere on their dirt bikes and sleds and it was always an adventure. Vince showed his sisters how to ride the snow machine and always proceeded with caution and a protective eye. Many celebrations were held on the Island and Vince always loved being a part of that. Over the years Vince would come home with one more friend, asking “Mom could they move in for a while”, always trying to lend a hand for those in need. He treasured his childhood home on the Island and loved growing up there. He attended St. Elizabeth’s and Northwood High school where he excelled in many of the trade classes. He earned the title of ultimate Jack of All Trades. If you needed anything built or fixed, you name it, Vince could do it. The one trade he directed his talents towards was residential and commercial painting.
With the support of his devoted wife Julie, he started the business AllBrite Painting and worked diligently to make it a success. Vince was a family man, he was always there for Julie and his son Cory, who meant the world to him. They created many joyous memories together, especially vacations and road trips in their motorhome where his niece Krista was fortunate enough to join them. Vince took special pride in his beautiful home and amazing backyard paradise that he kept immaculate. The gate was always open, welcoming family and friends to enjoy it with him. Vince accomplished so much during his time on earth and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is now resting in peace with the love of his life, Julie Schelling, mother Assunta Van Teeffelen , sister Leona Van Teeffelen, uncle Bart Van Teeffelen and Grandmother Gertrude Van Teeffelen, and his beloved dogs Tanner and Sasha. Left to celebrate his life are his son Cory Van Teeffelen, father Leo Van Teeffelen, brother John Van Teeffelen (Susan), sisters Julia DeLuca (Ted) and Trudy Van Teeffelen. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews, and all other relatives, life long best friends Curtis Godick, Steve Tiboni and close friend Judy Martinsen who he appreciated so much for helping him.
