Mr. Vincenzo Maletta, age 78 years, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at St. Joseph's Care Group.  Vincenzo was born in Sciglian, Cosenza, Italy on December 18, 1937, the son of Luigi and Carmelena Maletta. 

He grew up in Colosomi, Italy where he met Assunta Colosimo and the two were married in 1961.  A hair stylist by trade he worked in Italy before coming to Port Arthur in May of 1968 and along with Assunta continued as a hair stylist, owning their own business, until their retirement in the mid 1990's. 

Vincenzo enjoyed making wine and spending time with friends.  As a young man he enjoyed playing soccer and was a very successful bocce player, traveling on many tournaments around the province. 

He was a member of the Italian Society of Port Arthur, the Principe Di Piemonte Society and St. Anthony's R.C. Church.  Vincenzo's greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren and he was happiest when spending time with them. 

He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Assunta, children: Luigi (Jen), Francesca, Vladimiro (Melissa), Rodrigo "Rocky" (Kathleen), Carmen and Vincenzo "Enzo" (Carla); grandchildren: Vince (Maya), Justin (Jamie), Vanessa, Natasha, Adrian, Andrea (Mike), Michael (Lori), Matthew, Luca, Dianna, Nathan, Patrick, Sarah, Jae-Lyn and Bella; great grandchildren Anthony, Emma and Aliana, brother Mario (Marissa) in Italy, cousin Pierino (Minnie) Maletta as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

He was predeceased by his parents, sister Francesca, brother Tony and sister-in-law Pina. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 leaving the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, at 9:30 a.m. to St. Anthony's R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini. 

The entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Visitation for friends will take place on Monday, May 30, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel where the Vigil Service will begin at 6 p.m.
