Mr. Vincenzo Morabito, age 87 years resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Saturday March 17, 2018.

Born in Ardore, Reggio Calabria, Italy, he immigrated to Canada and settled in Fort William. He was married to Ida Lombardo, and she predeceased him in 2005. Vincenzo worked at Great Lakes Steel where he was a crane operator. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, making wine and gardening. Spending time with his family was always important.

He is survived by his children Bruno (Kory),  Pasqualina (Peter) Commisso, Domenic (Angela), Tony, Rosa Ridente, Mary (Antonio) Marzano, Frank (Mary) Morabito, grandchildren, Michele Morabito, Paul Morabito, Giuseppe Commisso, Valentina Commisso, Alessandra Commisso, Domenico and Lucia Ridente, Luana Ridente and Antonio Guastella,Giuseppe Marzano, Laura Marzano and Guiseppe Figliomeni, Victoria Morabito, Samantha Morabito, Mandy Green. Great grandchildren Giulia Commisso and Riccardo Guastella. Also survived by his brother Fernando Morabito and Vincenza Morabito, Australia; Sister Mary Morabito, Italy; Domenic and Lena Morabito Rexdale Ontario, sister in law Mary Morabito, Rexdale.  Numerous brothers and sister-in- law, nieces, nephews and other relatives survive in Thunder Bay, Toronto and Italy. He was predeceased by his parents Pasqualina and Bruno Morabito, wife Ida Morabito son-in-law Giuseppe Ridente, brother Joe Morabito, brothers-in-law Angelo Arrogona, Carlo Lombardo, Domenic Lombardo and sister-in-law Rita Lombardo.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the TBRHSC, nurses and workers at Bayshore Home Health; Doctors at the Aurora Clinic and staff at the Ridgeway Pharmacy. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 21, 2018 when friends and family will gather for funeral mass at 11:00 am at St. Dominic’s Church celebrated by Rev. Maurizio Maifredi c.s.

Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm at St. Dominic’s Church with prayers to be offered at 8:00 pm. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
