It is with profound sadness that the family of Vincenzo Rizzo announces his passing on February 15, 2023 at the age of 74. Born to Saverio Costanzo and Saveria Rizzo in Borboruso, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy on January 01, 1949. Vincenzo immigrated to Port Arthur in 1967 to join his older brother Alfredo and his family. Two years later, his mother and brothers Santo and Rosario joined them.

In 1976 Vincenzo married Ada, the love of his life. They had 4 children and together built a life that was grounded on the love and importance of family.

Vincenzo loved his family. Though family was spread across the world, that did not impact the bond he had with each of them. Vincenzo made a point of keeping in contact with them all. Locally, he surrounded himself with family. Vincenzo and Ada's home became the hub of the Rizzo family, pulling tables and chairs together in their basement, every year adding more and more. An invitation was never needed because you knew, whether you were family or a friend, you would always be welcomed with open arms in their home. Those who visited during gardening season always left with a bag of fresh vegetables. Gardening was his passion, showing off the fruits of his labour including his tomatoes and peppers to all who stopped by.

Vincenzo could be found socializing with friends at the Italian Cultural Centre where he was a long-time member. Recently, during the pandemic, Vincenzo would meet up with some friends in the parking lot of St. Anthony's parish where he was also a member. Mostly, he spent his time with family. Daily visits with his brothers, who were his truest of friends, or at home with his family and his two granddaughters, Isabella and Gabriella. Becoming a Nonno kept Vincenzo young and made him soft over the years. He continued to surround himself with the people who mattered most to him, especially during his times of illness.

Vincenzo worked hard for his family and often work took him out of town. He worked with the International Union 607 in construction for many companies including Cencan, Corazza, Zysko and MarVik making many friends along the way. He dedicated 12 years with Hydro One as a lineman before retiring in 2014.

Vincenzo is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 47 years, Ada. Children Saverio, Maria (Jose) Molina, Josie and Sonia. Grandchildren Isabella and Gabriella Molina. Siblings Alfredo (Beverly) Rizzo, Domenic (Pina) Rizzo (Australia), Giuseppina Ventura (Australia), Santo (Terri) Rizzo, Rosario (Gina) Rizzo, Carmela Costanzo (sister-in-law) (Australia), Mauro Picciolo (brother-in-law) (Italy), Maria Arella (mother-in-law), Eva (John) Perri (sister-in-law) (Edmonton), along with many nieces, nephews and cousins all over the world who loved him.

Vincenzo was predeceased by his parents Saverio Costanzo and Saveria Rizzo, Rosa Rizzo (sister in infancy), Angelo and Rosa Costanzo (brother and sister-in-law), Giuseppi Costanzo (brother), Dina Picciolo (sister), Michael Ventura (brother-in-law), Luigi Fragale (cousin), Giuseppi and Cienza Talarico (cousins), Giuseppi Arella (father-in-law), Giuseppi Ventura (nephew), Saveria "Ria" Johnson (niece), and Giuseppi Ventura (nephew).

The family of Vincenzo would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the TGH Peter Munk Cardiac Centre for the care given to him. A special thank you to the numerous physicians, surgeons and nurses that attended to Vincenzo's care during his hospital admission, and the care and compassion expressed towards his large family in his final days in the ICU.
