Violet Faye
Mrs. Violet Jean Faye (nee Schutte), age 90 years, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021.

Jean learned the value of family, community, and hard work growing up on her family’s farm in Slate River.

As a girl, she enjoyed reading and school, and wanted to become a teacher.

In 1949, she married Frank Faye, and they soon started work on building a new home on Riverdale Road, a labour of love, where they raised their family of four children.

Jean took great pride in her home and flower gardens, but even more pride in her family. She was the ultimate Homemaker, sewing clothes for her children, making jams and other preserves from homegrown fruits and vegetables, baking birthday cakes, and hosting countless large family holiday gatherings. Her many albums are full of photographs she took of cherished family members. Every January she meticulously noted every birthday and anniversary date in her new calendar, so she would be sure to send a card to mark the important occasion.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Frank Faye, parents Myrtle and Edward Schutte, son Dr. Ron Faye, and sisters Vera Negley (Cliff) and Joan Casselman (Wes). She is survived by her daughters Gale Porter (Fred), Sheryl Buday (Denny), Donna Jeanpierre (Cedrick), daughter-in-law Alice Faye, sister Velma Reeves, grandchildren Kevin Porter (Ashley), Jana Roy (Rob), Melissa Buday, and Christina Faye, and great-grandchildren Owen, Keltie, Toby, Mataya, and Porter, and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate in memoriam donations to The Arthritis Society – Thunder Bay or to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation’s Our Hearts at Home Campaign.
