Dr. Vireshwar Vishwanath Paranjape, known to many by "VV", was born on May 10, 1930 in Gondia, a small rural city in central India.

His love of science earned him advanced degrees in both mathematics (Nagpur, India) and theoretical physics (Liverpool, U.K.), and his passion for research and teaching made him an extrodinary educator and an acclaimed, well published scholar at Lakehead University since 1967.

He enjoyed swimming, walking, reading, politics, Indian classical music, and socializing with people young and old. A true gentleman with unwaivering spirit,

"VV" passed away on Fri. Apr. 22, 2016 from complications due to biliary cancer. His wife since 1960, Neela, son, Makarand, and daughter-in-law, Shruti, were at his side. "VV" will be missed by family, friends, and colleagues here and around the world, including his precious grandchildren, Nikhil (8) and Anika (5), who already learned so much from the relatively short time they knew him.
