On April 26th, 2016, with her daughter and grandsons by her side Vittoria Baratta Longo passed into the arms of our Lord.

Born March 27th, 1936 to Pietro and Enrichetta Baratta in Marano Marchesato, Province Cosenza, Italy. Vittoria was the jewel in her family of eight brothers and excelled at beautiful detailed crafts like crochet, knitting and embroidery.

On March13, 1965, she married her love Rocco Longo and they made their lives in Canada in 1967. She often told stories of arriving in Port Arthur in February of that year and wondering if the snow would ever go away.

They made their home in northern Ontario towns like Hillsport and Caramat before returning again to Thunder Bay.

Vittoria adored cooking, canning , creating beautiful crochet doilies and tending to her amazing flowers but truly her greatest joy came from being a devoted and doting grandmother to Gianluca and Alessandro. They were the sun and the moon to her and she was the greatest Nonna to her boys.

Vittoria was known for her generosity of spirit, her loving heart and caring nature and her radiant smile. She is predeceased by her parents, her darling husband Rocco, her brothers Benedetto, Giuseppe, Giovanni, Amadeo and Mariano, sisters-in-law Marietta and Anna and children Annuziata and two sons in infancy.

Left to mourn the loss of this adoring and gentle woman is her daughter Antonella and her Grandsons Gianluca and Alessandro and son-in-law Jon. She also leaves behind brothers, sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews and dear friends in Europe, Australia and the USA.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 2nd, 2016 when family and friends will gather for the Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's R.C. Church beginning at 10:30 am, celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini.

Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Chapel of the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street with a Vigil Service at 4:00 pm.  Should friends desire memorial donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Dew Drop Inn would be appreciated. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.

Reste in pace cara Mamma. I love you. I miss you, I will never forget.
