Walter Arthur Nelson

Walter Arthur Nelson passed away at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the age of 74.

A lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, Walter’s favourite pastimes included being a lover of antique cars and the outdoors. After retiring as a Millwright from Great Lakes Paper/Resolute in 2001, he built on his hobby as a talented woodworker.

Walter was predeceased by his parents Randi and Leo Nelson, and his son Christopher, who died in infancy. Walter is survived by his brother Tom, children Greg (Cindy), Nelson, Kari (Shannon), Nelson and Amy (DJ), Kembel, his five grandchildren: Conner, Aiden, Olivia, Emily and Aby. Walter is deeply loved and missed by his partner Laura Bushby that he met in 2014.

Walter was a loving and compassionate man who had a giant heart. He accepted everyone at whatever station they were at in life. As a lover of animals, Walter adopted three abandoned cats in his home.

Walter had a favourite cat named Rollie.

As per Walter’s request, no service will take place. Cremation has taken place, and burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
