Walter Kis Sr. passed away peacefully on October 18, 2017 at the age of 93 at Pioneer Ridge.

Walter was born on January 19, 1924 in Suchodoly, Poland. His parents migrated to the Ukraine when he was an infant. Then at the age of 18 he spent time in a German concentration farm in Dresden, Germany. After the war he was recruited to Canada by a bush company and later worked for CN Railway until he retired at the age of 64.

While in Canada he met and married the love of his life Laura Marie Garbos. Together they had five wonderful children, Janet (Ren), twins Helen (Bob) and Catherine (Don), Raymond (Morizia) and Walter Jr. (Wendy). Walter was predeceased by his parents and his brother in the Ukraine.

He is survived by his wife Laura of 68 years and his five children, grandchildren, many great grandchildren and also his extended family, Ala and Walter and their family in the Ukraine.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M at the Blake Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vladimir Chvets officiating. Interment will follow in the Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held following the funeral service at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 149 at 730 Simpson Street. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday evening, October 23, 2017 in the Blake Funeral Chapel with prayers offered at 7:00 PM.
