Mr. Walter Pielich age 93 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in St. Joseph's Hospital, on Monday, August 29, 2016.

Born in Sadzawki Poland, he grew up and married Mary Wozniak there. Walter served in the Polish Army during the Second World War.

They lived in Poland until 1972 when they moved to Canada settling in Fort William. He worked as a section man for the CNR retiring in 1982. He was a longtime member of St. Casimir’s Church and also the Royal Canadian Legion Polish Branch #149.

Walter loved to spend time with his family, work around his home, especially in the garden and look after his racing pigeons.

He is survived by his daughter Irena Kania and her husband Ryszard, daughter-in-law Henryka Pielich, grandchildren, Robert (Agnieszka) Kania, and their children Brandon and Maja, Agnieszka (Marek) Jaworski and their children Jessica and Sandra, Artur (Mary) Kania, Joanna (Mariusz) Krszysztofik and their children Mateusz, Marcel and Maciej, Marius Pielich, nephew Nick (Kim) Pelych, and numerous other relatives in Poland.

He was predeceased by his wife Maria, parents Anna and Mikolaj, son Zbigniew, sister Anna Kinash and brother-in-law Nestor Kinash.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 10:00am, at St. Casimir's Church. Interment will follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery.

Prayers will be offered Thursday September 1, 2016 at 7:00pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel. If friends desire, memorials to the  charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Walter Pielich will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
