Walter Widla

Mr. Walter Widla Sr. a resident of Thunder Bay peacefully passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the age of 90 years.

Walter was born in Poland and he immigrated to Canada settling in Fort William, October 1949.  He worked for the City of Fort William until his retirement.

Walter is survived by his wife Sophie Irene Widla of 65 years of marriage and had four children, Alexis (James) Oliver, Alecia (Cosimo) Lombardo, Walter (Zelia) Widla and Anthony (Teresa) Widla.  Grandpa will be sadly missed by his 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Walter was predeceased by both parents and siblings.

Walter faithfully contributed to his church and enjoyed gardening, playing cards and his weekly scratch tickets.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 1:00pm, at St. Casimir's Church celebrated by Rev. Krystian Sokal. Services will complete in the church with cremation to follow.  Interment will take place at a later date. Prayers will be offered on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at  7:00pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel.
